1. The Bridge: For safety during transit, the bridge is wrapped in paper under the tailpiece. It must be stood up vertically exactly between the notches of the two "f-holes."

2. Bow Tension: Turn the screw at the end of the bow to tighten the hair. Aim for a 1/4-inch gap between the hair and the wood—it should have a slight bounce but not touch the stick when playing.

3. Rosin First Use: New bow hair won't make a sound without rosin! Gently scratch the surface of the included rosin with a coin to create a powder, then run the bow hair over it several times.
